A free TinyURL alternative

TinyURL is the classic free shortener, but its click analytics, link editing and expiry are Pro features. shrtn.ink has them on the free plan, with a REST API that has no call cap.

The short version

Pick shrtn.ink if you want click analytics, editable links and an API without a subscription. Stay on TinyURL if you need links on your own domain today, an uptime SLA, or integrations like Zapier and Slack — shrtn.ink has none of those yet.

Where shrtn.ink is ahead

  • Analytics without a plan. Referrers, countries, devices and browsers for every link, free. TinyURL keeps all click analytics for Pro, from $9/mo.
  • Links you can change. Edit a destination, set an expiry, or pause a link, free. On TinyURL, editing destinations and setting expiry dates are Pro features.
  • Tags and campaigns. Tag links and see one report per campaign, free. TinyURL tags need Pro.
  • An API without a meter. No call cap, batch creation of 100 links per call, signed webhooks and an MCP server on the same key. TinyURL's free API allows 600 calls a month and offers neither webhooks nor an MCP server.
  • More than links. A UTM builder with saved presets, link-in-bio pages, and published redirect latency. TinyURL offers none of them.

Where TinyURL is ahead

  • Custom domains. TinyURL Pro includes three branded domains. On shrtn.ink custom domains are planned, not built.
  • Integrations. TinyURL connects to Zapier, Google Sheets and Slack. shrtn.ink has no integrations yet; its API and MCP server are the way in.
  • Enterprise terms. TinyURL Enterprise comes with an SLA-backed uptime guarantee and a dedicated account manager. shrtn.ink offers neither.
  • Track record. TinyURL has shortened links since 2002. shrtn.ink is new.

Switching from TinyURL

The tinyurl.com links you already have stay where they are: a short link cannot change its domain, so keep your TinyURL account for anything already printed or shared. New links can start here. Sign in, create an API key, and send up to 100 links per call to the batch endpoint in the API, each with its own custom slug if you want to keep an alias. UTM tags carry over untouched, because they are part of the destination URL.
